Let's start at the beginning....

Well, as most of you know, our two little ones were born last Friday January 30th. But there is a lot to report so we will have to back up a bit...

As the last post says, I was admitted to Greenwich Hospital on January 21st for mild contractions and because I had started to dilate.

On January 29th, the contractions began in full force and no medication they gave me seemed to calm them down. We started realizing that this was it and it probably would all go down in a matter of hours. So we decided to take some last minute pictures.

That night was a long one...doctors were hoping that somehow they could stop the labor from progressing and around 3 am it looked like they might just have done it, but by 8 am the contractions were full force, I was dilated much further and the doctor decided that they wouldn't be able to stop it and so they started preparing me for a C-Section.

Both babies weighed in at the same amount 4 lbs. 4 oz.

It was a great day. Both babies came out breathing on their own-quite remarkable since they were 7 weeks premature. The next few pictures are some we have taken throughout the last week.
This is Liliana. Felix took this one...it was the first time she opened her eyes for us.

This is of Lucas as I was holding him....

After about three days, the twins needed to be put under lights to help with their jaundice.

And while there are countless pics that we have taken over the past week...today was the first day where we got them together in a picture...

These were taken right after they ate and Lucas was already out cold..photo op or no photo op...

We feel amazingly lucky to have been given these two little miracles. We visit them every day and are so thankful for the amazing nursing/doctor staff at the NICU. While it isn't easy leaving them every day, it is so comforting to know that they are in good hands. Docs say that they could come home is as little as 2 weeks from now, but it all depends on how much they increase their feeds by. Everyday they are eating more, so they are right on track. And of course, now that we are caught up with pictures, be sure to check back for updates!
