Sesame Place Part 1

Well, we arrived half an hour before the park opened. We anticipated a lot of morning rush hour traffic since we had to go over the GW bridge. But Felix took a great route and we sailed right down. Needless to say, for the first hour or so, there wasn't a lot of people in the park.

Most of the pools were for toddlers, this one didn't go past 2 feet I think. It was perfect.

Sesame merchandise EVERYWHERE! But they were content to play a little and put it back.

This is the best one we could get.

The park has a nice picnic area right outside the park with tables and umbrellas. So there is a nice alternative to buying park food. We packed the big cooler with two days worth of lunch.

Back to the park!

They had handprints or footprints of each character...

Climbing, climbing, climbing...

We stayed for the 2 pm parade before heading back to the hotel for naps. It was SO hot, but the kids loved it.

After a well deserved sleep, we went out to dinner and then back to the park to ride some non-water rides. There was this great balloon guy at the restaurant and they twins each got a treat.

Unfortunately, the skies got real dark and it stormed quite a bit. We decided to wait the storm out and parked at Sesame Place. The park would still be open for two hours and we thought the storm would reduce the crowds a bit. So as we waited, we turned on an Elmo DVD and the twins were oblivious to the torrential rain all around them.

The skies did clear and the park was pretty empty. We stumbled upon this Elmo show that was about to start. Normally, during the day, people need to wait almost an hour to get into these shows. But we showed up two minutes before it began and got great seats!

We came out expecting to catch the 9 pm parade, but it had started raining again. What we didn't know is that the park had cancelled the parade. So basically the park was closing one hour early. However, because of this, they were issuing what they call their "Sunny Day Guarantee" and we got tickets to come back any day for the rest of the season for free. Pretty cool!
