Swimming....

The twins started their swim lessons on Monday.  They are held at Longshore, where we usually swim.

The twins were much more comfortable with the water then their other classmates...

If you look close you can see Liliana in the air in this shot.

On a different (and much more significant) note, yesterday was Felix and my 6th anniversary.  However, during the summer, Felix does not work on Fridays and Christina usually does.  So we didn't feel the need to pay to have her come just to go out because it was the ninth.  Last Friday, we went paddle boarding on the Saugatuck River and then had a nice long lunch in Westport.  This Friday, we are planning to kayak out to Sheffield Island in Norwalk.  Having relaxing days to just hang out with each other is something we don't get to do usually...and are way more precious than one date night.  So last night, we just opted for a relaxing dinner by the water with the kids.  It's been a great six years...

A Day at Quassy..

On Thursday it was beautiful and Christina was off...so I decided to get out of the house with the kids and so I packed them up and we headed up to Lake Quassy Amusement.    Water slides and lake side fun....much needed.

You can't really see it  but they are on the platform and the big barrel tipped over and spilled on them.

These were the slides they went down...much bigger than anything else they have done before.  And they went down alone.

In this picture, they are walking back discussing which slide they want to go on...it was very cute.

Afterwards we headed to the beach area for lunch and some swimming.

It was really nice to get out of the house.  Liliana is doing so much better, which is refreshing.

Being a good sport...

Liliana spent the better part of three days in the house alternating between benadryl, oatmeal baths and calamine lotion....

Because of all this, we missed out on the fireworks (I think I was more disappointed than they were).  But we celebrated our own way by getting ice cream from McDonald's...

And lighting sparklers before bed...

On the fourth, Felix went into NYC to see his family who were all gathering for the fourth.  Liliana stayed back with me.  We wanted to go to the beach, but the weather was not cooperating.  So I let her try out her new bathing suit and her new goggles as she "swam" in the bathtub.

Spots....

We went to the beach Sunday night and brought our dinner.  While we were there, we noticed that Liliana had some bites or spots or something on her face and arms.  Thinking it might be mosquito bites, I was kicking myself for not spraying her at the beach.

However when she woke up the next morning, it was much worse and as the day wore on it spread like wildfire.

Turns out she has the Hand, Foot and Mouth virus.  They call it that because usually the sores show up in those locations.  Liliana just has it all over her body as well.  There's not much to do for it, since it is a virus.  Just have to keep her from itching is all.

The Great Duck Race....

This weekend, Westport had The Great Duck Race.  Its basically a a fund raising rubber ducky race.  They had lots of fun things for kids...

Getting the race ready on the Saugatuck River.

Ha!

Hundreds of ducks were released into the river (in a tubed corral) and the first duck to reach the end won.  Each person got a number and if your duck won the race you could have won anywhere from $5000-$500.

Trying to stay cool....

In the midst of a heat wave, we attempted to stay cool the best we could.  Found a new splash park to play at.  Lucas had a ball.

Liliana...well, she was a non-participant.  Still not too sure why, but I didn't push her.

After naps, we went to the IMAX movie at the aquarium where we used up the last of our free movie passes.

Blue Man....

These were taken by Felix when he took the twins to the museum the other day.  They have a new Blue Man Group exhibit there and the kids seemed to have fun making music.

Here they are all the way up in the back.

Island Beach....

Of course what would a visit from the Nashville Sullivan's be without a trip to Island Beach?

On the boat....

It was hot, but the playground was still fun.

Lunch in some shade...

Lucas fell and hurt himself a bit...think he liked going to the lifeguard station a lot.

The kids placed bread on the wall and waited to see if seagulls would come...and they DID!  Didn't take long at all...

My little monkey in a tree....

Nana and Caeley debating what Caeley can do with all her seashells...

Goodbye Island Beach...and goodbye Nashville Sullivans.  It was great having you....hope to see you soon.

More Fun...

While Pete and his family were here, we tried to show them some of the things we like to do.  So we took them to library storytime and craftime.  We made fireworks in honor of July 4th.

Later that evening we went to the Levitt Pavilion for an outdoor kids concert.  We had a nice dinner outside while we listened and danced to some fun music.
