Off to the beach!

On Monday morning, the twins, Nana and my sisters and I headed out for a few days in VA beach.  The ride was easy enough to do in a day and still take our time.

We stayed at the boardwalk...right on the water.  This was the view from our room.

Liliana and Wendy relaxing..

Hanging out in the living room after a nice swim.

Poor guy...there was some crazy trigger in the air down in VA which made for some rough respiratory problems...but we had the nebulizer, which helped a bit.

A cut before we go....

Well we wouldn't be hitting the road unless Lucas needed a haircut.  It was so warm today, I was able to strip him down and cut his hair outside...SO much better.

There we go...all set for Virginia Beach....

Another Saturday full of suprises

A few weeks ago when we went to WEBE 108 kids fest, we received four tickets for free bowling. So we headed out to Milford (where the coupon was for) and when we arrived, we were the only ones at the alley, but eventually some other bowlers showed up-not that we minded one bit.

They had this dragon ball roller for the kids.  They just put the ball up and push it down...a huge hit.

For the first time in all the ten years I have known Felix, I beat him in bowling.  I take great pride in this, since he is a pretty good bowler.  He took it in good stride.

Afterwards we went to Chuck E Cheese.  There was a groupon the other day that had a full lunch for four and $30 worth of tokens  all for $25!  So we headed over there.  Lots of games, pizza and fun.

See that in the background?  That's Liliana climbing up the playground that went all the way to the ceiling.  She spent about 45 minutes just climbing up and sliding down, over and over again.

Yes, that is my daughter in a box hanging from the ceiling.

And these three are my favorite.  Lucas cashed in his tickets and one of the prizes he got was a magnifying glass.  He went around "examining" everything. He was VERY serious...just too funny.

Easter Final Roundup....

My apologies for not finishing up this Easter madness sooner....I threw out my back and have been on the mend for the past few days.  So finally, here are the pics of the actual Easter morning.

The kids got mostly little toys, one of which being these parachute animals that you throw up in the air and the animal soars down with the parachute.

An Easter ball popper.

Heading out to church.

Goofballs!  Love it!

Day of surprises....

Today there were many Easter activities in the area.  Two were at local churches (our church does not have one).  We had read about these in the paper.  We weren't too sure how these events were going to go, so we didn't tell the twins what we were doing.  We just said we were going to a surprise (and we brought our Easter baskets along because you never know when you just might need that!)

Surprise one:  Egg dying at United Methodist Church.  The twins got to dye eggs with us and enjoyed some nice snacks the congregation baked for the event.

Surprise 2:  McDonald's play place.  We had an hour between the two events so we took the kids to the McDonald's playground.  It bought some time for us.

Surprise 3:  Egg Hunt and bouncy house at Good Shepard Church.  This church had an egg hunt (one for little kids, one for big kids-hence the Easter baskets)

And they had a bouncy house..huge hit!

Look at all that loot!

Afterwards, it was brownies and cupcakes and juice boxes...

And to top it all off they got a goodie bag from each church when we left.

Thanks to the United Methodist Church and the Church of the Good Shepard for welcoming us so warmly today.  Both these events were free of charge and were designed to foster family enjoyment around this holiday weekend.  And to think..the Easter Bunny has yet to arrive!

An Easter Surprise!

Just as I was heading out for Good Friday mass, the doorbell rang!  The twins get so excited when the doorbell rings.  We opened the door to see a package sitting there.  Opened it up and it was an Easter care package from Nana!  A three piece bunny with candy in each tier.

Thanks Nana!

Good Friday...

Aside from the more serious service tonight for the adults, our church had a children's service today at 3.  It really wasn't a service, but a storytelling.  Not too sure taking pics in church is legit, but I figured since it was not a formal service it might be allowed.

The little chairs all set up for the washing of the feet...

Mother Cindy ran the service.  She basically had a child's version of the stations, each station revealing something about the Easter story (and very little  about the actual stations of the cross that deal with the events leading up to Jesus' death).   At each station, the children got a token of some sort (candle, mirror, flower, palm cross) to put in their journey bag which was marked with footprints.

Liliana getting her feet washed.

The children talking about the story in the garden, which is what the chapel in our church is transformed into during Holy Week.

Lucas liked the "waterfall"

It was a really nice service and afterwards, on our walk home, we went the long way through the green and let the kids play at the gazebo.
