Members only...

I got out of work and it was beautiful, so I went home and off to Mead Park we went.  It was like a wind tunnel there, and the kids were real good when I told him after only about 15 minutes that we had to leave.  It was just too cold though.  We are all just getting over our colds and the last thing I needed was to have them get sick again.

After dinner, we went over to the Aquarium where they were having a members only night to celebrate their grand reopening after their construction period.

This is a real lady...but looked like a stone statue of a mermaid.

It was a nice night.  The aquarium didn't look all that different...perhaps I couldn't identify the new 21 species of fish they were bragging about.  But it is definitely more open, and everything has a brand new coat of paint and overall they did a nice job.

Puzzle Mania!

Lucas loves puzzles...Liliana...not so much.  But Lucas can spend a long concentrated time on a puzzle until he gets it done.  Here he is with his fire engine floor puzzle.

I used to LOVE puzzles and would do  them all the time.  Even had a puzzle board I kept under my bed so I could work on a puzzle and then put it away partially done so it would not be disturbed.  Lucas has sparked this fire in me once again.  So today, while at Walmart I picked up this seemingly innocent 300 piece puzzle. Lucas helped out a bit, and even was able to put together pieces if we sorted like pieces out for him.

Soon it became Felix and I and we were a little obsessed...were the kids watching tv this whole time?  Hmmm.....

The finished product.

There is something so rewarding about finishing a puzzle...no matter how small (although this was a little harder than I thought it would be...so much red and yellow!)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today, Christina dressed the kids all in red to celebrate the day.  The kids are feeling better and they were in good spirits when I came home from work.

Lucas was being a good sport letting Liliana do his hair and "fix him up".

Felix came home with flowers for me, and balloons and singing cards for the kids. (Liliana's was a singing princess card!)

Unfortunately, Felix and I canceled our plans for a dinner date tonight since I am still not feeling well.  But I proudly put this pin on my bag that the kids got me in their card.

p.s. Doc called yesterday and Lucas' blood work came back AOK.  yeah!

A warm day inside

Today we woke up and everyone was a little under the weather.  It was FREEZING outside.  You could hear the wind howling outside and the news said the windchill was around 12 degrees.  So for the first time in a long time, we decided to skip church and just stay inside.

We did puzzles....

And monster play...

The twins played well together a lot of the time.

After naps, I took out some frozen gingerbread dough and we made Valentine's Day cookies..

They look pretty Christmasy, but hey...

Then it was more puzzles...

And more monster play...

Lucas with all four of his puzzles done...so proud.

None of us are that much better after today, but the hope is that we will all have recuperated by time we head out to Mexico next week.

Quite a morning...

At seven this morning, I woke Lucas from his bed and took him over to Quest Diagnostics to get his blood drawn.  He was very good about it, although it did take three adults (including myself) to hold him still during it all.  Afterwards he was quite upset and we just sat in the doctor's office and he almost fell asleep right there.  Once he had calmed down we headed out to Stew Leonard's for a treat.  And next to the lab we came across this big back hoe (is that what it is called?) doing work at the Norwalk Inn.  Lucas loved it and posed for a pic.

After breakfast we headed out to Wilton Library where they had Valentine's Day Crafts for the kids.  It was a ghost town there...we were  the only ones in the room for most of the time.   Hmmm...

They had fun though.

After that we headed over to the Norwalk Library where they were having their own "Norwalk Has a Heart" Valentine's celebration.  Now Norwalk Library knows how to do it!  There were TONS of people there...there was valentine decorating...necklace making....

and best of all...cupcake decorating!  Each kid got to decorate a cupcake and box it up and take it home.

Fun times!  This evening Felix and the kids are at the bowling alley at a party.  I am still under the weather, so I am sitting home by the fire.

at the docs...

Today the twins had their three year physical with Dr. Grevious.  I am probably the only mother who takes pictures of their kids during an appointment. But hey....

Both Lucas and Liliana were 90the percentile for height and 75 percentile for weight.

The kids were playing some game while waiting for the doctor.  They called this their "cueva" or "cave".  They were hiding out and taking turns picking up some pretend magic stick.  It was pretty cute.

They got their flu shots and had hemoglobin tests...hence the bandaids.

Unfortunately, Lucas' hemoglobin test came back low...and so they did it again...and it still came back low.  So tomorrow I have to take him to the lab to have his blood drawn so they can make sure they are getting an accurate reading.  Doc will call us with the results.

Ever wonder what Liliana would look like without all those curls?

Christina did this last week.  We tend to like her with the curls though....seems like more of a little girl that way.

Dolls!

Witon Library had a magical princess doll making workshop today.  We were planning to take both kids, but Lucas is a little under the weather, so it was just Liliana and I.

You can see her doll sitting on top of the cup to the left.

Decorating her dress.

Afterwards with the finished product.  We were able to make as many dolls as we wanted.

One for Liliana, one for Lucas and one for Mami and Papi.

Afterwards Liliana took some time out to play with the trains...

Dancing with her dolls in the playroom.

Norwalk Reads

The museum had a open night yesterday.  They do this when they host Norwalk Reads.  Its a program where the city gives away free books for kids to read.  So they open the museum up to the whole city and give out books as well.  We went early.  Since we go to the museum all the time, going during an 'open night' didn't really appeal to us since we knew it would be packed.  But the kids played a bit...

And then we were off to get books.  Each kid gets two new books and two used books.  A great way to replenish our supply of bedtime stories.

Liliana and Lucas got a matching activity for Christmas that they seem to really like to play with.  Liliana made a character the other day and said "Mami!  Mira tu! " Which means "Mami! Look its you!"

I guess I should be flattered?
