Happy Birthday Mima!

Mima turned 81 yesterday!  We headed down after school to visit and celebrate with the rest of the family.

It's not a party without cake!

Memorial Day

After a really crummy weather weekend, the sun came out in all its splendor on Monday.  Just in time for the parade!

We got to East Avenue by 9:30 to get a good seat.

Of course, with the Lewertoffs!

Street was closed so Felix was able to just sit in the street.

Getting restless and wondering where the parade was...

Liliana and Josephine dancing as the Norwalk High Band went by....

Football!

This weekend we started off with watching Championship League football (soccer) at the Lewertoff's.  It was the Germany vs. Germany, so it was appropriate to be at their house to watch the game.  The kids got into the spirit too!

Gardening...

It's been a while.  Lucas has been sick and I have been very sick...out of comission for about five days or so (props to Felix for childcare/dinner prep for most of the week).  We are slowly coming back to normal and so I thought I would update you on some of the going ons....

We recently planted some new flowers..and let the kidsget their own gardening gloves.  They loved it.

On the train to see Aba...

We decided it was time for a visit to Aba. After school last week, the twins and I hopped on Metro-North and headed down to meet Felix in the city.

Picnic on the train!

After eating Lucas slept the rest of the ride on my lap.  Liliana on the other hand was forever interested with all the passing scenery.

And finally we got to visit with Aba!  So good to see you Aba.  We miss you.

Coco Key

We recently had a Groupon for Coco Key Indoor Water Park in Waterbury.  It expired at the end of the month, so we went up this past Wednesday after school/work.

This is a great place for kids up to the age of ten.  Think we will make the most of it until then.

Mother's Day...

Before we left the campsite, the kids gave me some gifts.  One of them was these cards they made in school.  Kind of like a Mother's Day Mad Libs.  They were asked to fill in the blank.

This is Lucas'

This is Liliana's

It was pretty funny to read their responses.  Glad to know they like my cooking though!

Going home...

Before we knew it, it was Sunday and time to go home.  All famlies staying in the cabins were required to clean out the cabin and sweep and mop the floors.  So we let the kids join in.

And on Sunday morning, Cindy Bear makes her rounds in a golfcart to all the tents and cabins to say goodbye to all the kids and their families.

We have already booked our next trip back in late June.  This time we will be tenting!  No more cabin for us!  Stay tuned, it is sure to be an adventure.

Rainy Day....

It was a rainy day on Saturday, really rainy.  It basically rained from 10am until 5 pm.  The kids were good sports about it though and the campsite rescheduled all activities to what they called a "Rainy Day Schedule" so the kids could still have fun indoors.

Hanging out with the big Yogi.

In the morning, they had Mother's Day Card making.

At the last minute I threw these umbrellas into the van.  Good thing I did...they had a blast walking around all day in the rain with these.

They had their faces painted...

And played BINGO....

Even opted for a "Simon Says" game with Boo-Boo Bear.

More hanging around the park.

They were pretty tired at this point (around 5pm).  See Lucas?  I think he could have fallen asleep on Yogi right there.

But then we got a second wind when the sun came out.

We ended the night with another campfire, more S'mores, and some good stories.  The kids literally were asleep within seconds of climbing into their bunks.

By the fire.

We realized that we didn't have a grill, and so we got this super portable one at Crate and Barrel the day before we left.  We cooked our food over this and saved the campfire for S'mores.

Getting the fire going.

Liliana picking out her stick for roasting marshmallows...a little big if you ask me, but she thought it was perfect.

Pretty proud of this fire I built if I do say so myself.

Roasting marshmallows...

Some silly faces by the fire.
