Work in progress...

Anyone who has been to our house knows....it's all beige. Every room, every corner. So this summer we are giving L and L their own rooms and decided not only to paint their rooms, but also much of the house as well. We decided to have a professional painter come in and paint the areas that would be seen by guests (downstairs and the guest bedroom) The twins' rooms and our bedroom we are doing ourselves.

Our first priority is to get the kids' rooms done so we can clear out the nursery so the painter can paint it. We are doing two tone rooms. This is Lucas'. It will be blue on both top and bottom, but with a lighter blue on top. (you can see both colors in the pic below). Where the two colors meet we will have a border of trains, cars, tractors, etc. Liliana's room is similar, but with pink on bottom and light yellow on top. We haven't started that room yet.

We are also repainting all the plantation shutters in our house. These are the indoor window treatments in the twins' rooms and our bedroom. Tried to paint them by hand and it looked horrible. So I googled it and the first thing they say is "do NOT try and paint by hand" Turns out spraypainting is the way to go. These too were beige and so we are painting them semi-gloss white to pop with the new colors in the rooms. More to come later....

Soriano's

Every year on the last day of school, Felix's school has a party at Soriano's house. The weather held out which was a big bonus.

Soriano had a pool. It was cold, but that didn't seem to stop the Gomez's

Bubble fun...

Hanging out eating dinner in the treehouse...

Triathlon

Sunday, the weather was really nice which made for a great race day.

Relay Team Brady....

Relay Team Gomez (twins just spectators of course)

Wetsuits are the least flattering things I know of, but I will need to wear it at my race later this summer, so on it went.

And we're off....I am in the water, next to that girl with the yellow cap (I have a light blue cap on).

Some pics from the race...

Cheering Papi on!

Weekend in Wilbraham

Felix and I went up to Wilbraham to stay with the Bradys for the weekend.

Hanging out at the playground.

After the playground we drove around a bit to see the local devastation caused by the recent tornado that touched down in the town a few weeks ago..it was quite amazing and very sad at the same time.

It was raining off and on , so we just hung out at the house.

Stayed tuned for pics from the triathlon....

Playspace and riding elevators

Its been raining on and off for three days now. Because of this, the kids really have not gotten out much. So after dinner last night, we headed to the mall and let the kids get some energy out at the playspace.

Afterwards, we rode the big glass elevator, which was a huge hit.

Basketball!

The twins really love basketball. A member of the twins club was getting rid of her old play basketball hoop, so I went to pick it up in New Canaan. A huge hit and the perfect size for their play balls. It even cheers you on when you score.

Happy Father's Day!

We had quite a fun filled day.

Felix and the kids opening his gifts.

Before church, Felix took the kids down to the beach to see the fishermen at the pier...

After church, Dad and Silvia stopped by for lunch and some cake!

In the afternoon, we headed back to the beach for our Church's summer picnic.

Yum! Watermelon!

Some down time...

The past few weeks have been pretty crazy for us. This tends to happen at the end of the year....final exams, regents, end of the year parties, retirement parties, etc. We have had a whirlwind six weeks and so we decided to lay low today and just spend the morning at the beach. Kind of nice not to have anything to do.

The lifeguards were doing training right next to us...running into the water and rescuing "distressed swimmers" It was kind of fun to watch (although some of them were my students)
