The bag is done!

So, I finally finished the bag...came out pretty good...it's been a while since I got back on the sewing machine..but it all comes back quickly. Here are a few shots..

The outer blue pocket has a liner of green polka dot print

The inside of the bag with open side panel pockets and a zip pocket. I have never done a zip pocket before, so I was pretty psyched when it turned out right (albeit on the second try and at the risk of running short of fabric)

The inside(and outside) has a quilted star pattern

Front view..you can see the stars on the front pocket.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Today was a hot one..too hot for us! I had the twins dressed in these very lighweight beach tops..probably the closest to identical these two will ever get...

As per our usual morning routine, we went for our morning walk...hats for everyone!

We also just acquired this beach tent from a member of Mothers of Multpiles. After Central Park, we realized what we had was very time consuming and somewhat difficult to put together. This comes already assembled, just four easy clicks and it's up..and it's much bigger!

Lucas was begging to try it out so I let him...

Hey, it's kinda comfy in here...I like it!

But after much activity it was time for a nice nap in the AC...

Inaugural Trip to Stew Leonards

I took the twins to Stew's this morning. I was halfway up this huge hill, when I realized I forgot my camera. Stew's is such a big part of our lives..I thought it would be a crime not to document their first visit..so back down the hill I went, got the camera and started back up...a good workout at least. After picking up a fresh bagel for Mami, we went to the garden center to shop for flowers for the back patio.

I then took them to see the new baby animals at Stew's, but they were fast asleep by then...I enjoyed it though..they were very cute.

It was an absolutely beautiful morning to be out for a walk in the neighborhood!

A mixed bag...

Today we had a little bit of everything...first off we got a new swing. I think we broke the one my brother gave us since it won't swing anymore. Luckily I belong to the local Mother of Multiples group here and they sell their old things once their kids grow out of them to new mothers of twins, triplets, etc...and then we will do the same. Helps everyone save money. We purchased this almost brand swing from a family in Stamford yesterday and Liliana loves it!

After church, Liliana and I went to the Quilter's Alley, my favorite fabric shop. I got material to start on a baby bag for the twins. It's been about ten months since I quilted. Last time I used my machine, I was in the early stages of pregnancy and the motion of the needle made my nausea ten times worse and I had to stop. I am VERY excited to start quilting again..be sure to check in for pics of the finished project.

Felix and I spent the afternoon catching up on things to do around the house...clean the garage, mow the lawn, plant some perennial bulbs, etc. While I was planting some bulbs, the ducks that hang out in our pond walked right up to me..I guess they are getting used to us. I went in to grab my camera and take a pic...they really are cute and very friendly.

And finally, the twins just spent the afternoon trying to keep cool....relaxing and enjoying the breeze...

Saturday in the park...

Since the weather was so nice we decided to pack the twins up and meet up with the Seltzer-Nose gang in Central Park.

We got a nice spot in the shade thanks to Aiko and Steve...and Liliana enjoyed the breeze under her cabana tent..

And after he ate, Lucas joined his sister..

Aiko's youngest son Rei is just starting to walk and was practicing his skills at the park...

Lucas and Felix relaxing...

Aiko's older son Ko just got a brand new scooter and was very happy to show it off...nice helmet Ko! Safety first!

Felix feeding Liliana under the shade of the tree...

Even Rei got into the tent action (when the twins weren't in it of course..)

Lucas just chilling in his hat...

By mid afternoon, the park was just crazy packed and we got out of there...(seriously, click on the picture to zoom in and see just how many people we are talking about here...) all those people roasting in the sun and no water in sight to cool down in...another thing about NYC living I don't get!

Thanks Aikes and Steve for a great afternoon!

A day with friends

The weather was beautiful today and the twins and I made our way to West Haven to see Carla and Joy. ( This was my first venture out alone with the twins...) Carla teaches art at Staples High School (where I teach). Her beautiful daughter Joy was born exactly two weeks after the twins. We went to the beach for a nice long walk and then went back to Carla's house to relax.
Here's Carla with Joy...

Joy has a very fancy rocker, vibrating seat that Lucas loved...

And Liliana was just taking it all in while in her car seat...

It was a nice day..thanks for having us guys!

In-fighting

Well, the objective today was to take a nice picture in the Dallas Cowboy shirts that Nana had gotten the twins. So I bathed the kids and got them dressed and tried to take a nice picture. That was the goal....

We had Lucas punching Liliana....

Then Liliana came back with a right hook...

But Lucas blocked it....

So Liliana came back with a left jab..

Waaah! Blocked once again Karate Kid style...

If this is a sign of things to come...oh boy!

Mid-Week Concert Series

Our church offers a mid-week concert every Wednesday at 12:15. It is free to the public and the music is simply beautiful..sometimes soloists, sometimes the organ, or violin or trumpet..it changes each week. This is my first week home alone with the twins, and I decided to get out of the house and walk down to church for the concert. It is only 30-45 minutes long and I thought it would be a nice break in the day.

Both twins had a crazy crying fit as I tried to get them into the stroller..so I was a little aprehensive that they might cry all throughout the concert...and I didn't really want to be that person that brought her babies to what was otherwise an adult setting and have them cry all throughout. So I decided to stay in the side chapel. We were able to hear the music just fine, but I was near the handicap ramp, which was our only exit if all hell broke loose.

Of course, as they always are in public, the twins were perfect angels. I think it helped that I sat underneath this lovely window with the twins looking at me, so they were transfixed on the colors.

Pictures in the chapel..pictures are ok in church apparently, as long as you don't use a flash...and no one could see me from where I was sitting, so I decided to take a few.

Liliana eventually drifted off, but Lucas was wide awake..almost not knowing what to make of the music at times. (Pics are dark because of no flash)

We walked home with our friend Ellen who lives down the street. It started to drizzle when we stepped outside the church and so we had to walk super fast before the real rain started. Is it bad that I had my kids out in the rain? Oh well...don't call child services just yet!
