Mount Snow

This weekend we headed up to Mt. Snow to see Jen and Brian at their house up there.  It was a long ride in the dark on Friday night, but the twins did great and arrived in good spirits.

There were three levels to this house. Brian and his brother share the house.  They sleep on the first two floors.  The ground floor has a whole separate living area.  This is where the twins slept.  Our bedroom is off to the right.

We decided not to ski or snowboard but Jen had a great idea of going to the resort's pool.  They sold day passes for visitors, so we brought our suits and lifejackets.  To our surprise...the whole pool was outdoors!  Most cool temperature resorts will have at least half and half (indoor and outdoor), but the whole thing was outdoors, but well heated and the kids had a blast!

We spent a good amount of time in the hot tub since it was heated a little better considering the temperature outside. 

Someone turned on the jets and our attempt for a family pick was difficult with the bubbles.

But once the bubbles stopped, we were all smiles....check out the ski slopes in the background!

The house had these great tv seats that the twins could sit on while watching tv.  (Check out the slippers that we got just for this trip!)

It was an extremely relaxing weekend.  So nice to get out of town and enjoy a change of scenery.  Thanks so much Jen and Brian!

baking (again)

The other night I made a peanut butter chocolate chip cake to take up to Jen and Brian's ski house when we visit them this weekend.  Of course Liliana was all about helping out.

She as all about licking the chocolate bowl (the melted chocolate we used to coat the bottom of the graham cracker crust)

Lucas realized he was missing out on a good thing, so he promptly moved a chair over and climbed up to join the action.

The finished product.  We put sprinkles on just for fun.  This weekend we will enjoy it!

Dentist

Today the twins had their first dentist appointment.  They hadn't been yet and I thought maybe it was time to get them there.

Each kid was given a pair of sunglasses to wear so the light does not get in their eyes...the loved that!

They were great sports....and seemed to have quite a bit of fun.  

There was all sorts of fun stuff like new toothbrushes, stickers, coloring sheets (while they waited in they chair) and a token at the end where they could put a coin in and get a prize.

I really liked this practice.  Unfortunately, it turns out that they are out of network for our insurance.  The bill today was quite low (about $15 a kid) but that was basically just to look in their mouth.  Down the road if they need more extensive work, it would make sense to be in network.  Thanks Kids First Dentistry...although we can't stay, you made our kids' first trip to the dentist a very positive experience.  

Trouble....

Felix and I were talking in the kitchen and we heard all this ruckus in the living room, we turned the corner and this is what we found.   They looked a lot more guilty than I think they actually were.  Said they were building a "castle".  

Goodbye 2011...Hello 2012

After a very busy (yet fun filled) week, we decided to lay low on Ne Year's Eve.  During the day it was  in the mid 50s so outside we were.  The kids played while Felix and I cleaned up the yard a bit.

After naps, we went to our St. Paul's New Year's service which was a very peaceful and tranquil way to prepare for the coming year.  Nana was there with a friend and everyone came back to our house for dinner.

Afterwards, we just hung out, started a nice warm fire and relaxed.

Today after church we went to Felix's Aunt's house for a New Years get together.

Don't think I can explain in words how magical a spiral staircase seems to a three year old.

This I think is the cutest pic of the day...Lucas was pleading to play dominoes all day (since they were just playing last night).  But dominoes is a VERY serious game for Cubans and there really was no place for Lucas at the dominoes table for most of the afternoon.  However, once everyone took a break for a while, Walfrido (Felix's uncle) sat with Lucas and they "played".  Thanks Walfrido!

Hoping everyone had a peaceful start to the New Year.

A visit from the Nose-Seltzer crowd...

Aiko, Steve, Ko, Rei and Emme came up for dinner last night.  It was great to catch up.  Liliana was all about Emme...and she even got a chance to hold her!  The boys?  Well they played with their trains.  

busy, busy, busy....

  Yesterday morning, we were off to play soccer.  The Mothers of Multiples Club that I belong to had a toddler soccer "clinic".  We did this last year.  It's a great way to get the kids out and running even when it is cold outside.  Here are some pics followed by some video of the day.

Then, after a long nap, it was off to Long Island to see Josh and Marika (and Charlotte, Roland and baby Tristan)
