Courtyard Lighting at the Museum

Because we can't seem to pack enough fun into one day, after we got home from NYC around 3:30 we had a quick (second) lunch and the we headed off the the museum for their holiday courtyard lighting ceremony. After all the hoopla in NYC, I have to say it was a bit anti-climatic. But the kids had fun...and that's all that matters.

They had heating lamps under the big tent outside..nice!

Some shots of indoor play as well...

Radio City!

What a big day we had today! We were up bright and early to start our trip to Radio City!

Lucas was all bright eyed....

Liliana on the other hand, was half asleep at breakfast....

First time trying on gloves....they were a big hit!

Papi outside of Caridad...a local haunt of his (we drove down to Washington Heights and then took the subway downtown)

Hanging out waiting for the 1 train.

We took a detour and stopped in Times Square...

Then we stopped at Rockefeller Center and of course saw the tree...

While we were there they were filming that NBC commercial where the news people all sing carols at the ice rink....it was pretty cool to watch...

There they all are...see Chuck S. in the middle?

Then we finally made it to Radio City.

Our seats were pretty good....

Getting ready for the show to start...

Ahhh...the wooden toy soldiers Rockette routine....a favorite of mine...

What was truly the best however, was watching Lucas and Liliana during the show. It was great to see them take it all in. Precious is what it really was...

This shot is for my mom...she always loved the nativity scene...

Hanging out on the subway heading back up town....

We made a quick stop at Felix's work to say hi..

All in all, it was a great day. And if that was not enough we made it home in time to go to the holiday courtyard lighting at the Children's Museum...that we will save for another post.

Advent Fair!

We recently had an Advent Fair at our church. I was in charge of making 6 dozen cookies for kids to be able to decorate....got the house smelling like gingerbread....fine by me! I went down early to help out and Felix came down later with the twins so they could see it all. The arts and crafts were a bit beyond them...but they had a good time running around.

Liliana wanting to get in on the cookie action. (interesting side note: the African American girl in this picture has a mother who is from Barbados...where I taught for a short while. Her mother is good friends with the Williams family who I stayed with...small world, well, small island at least)

Papi is always finding balloons!

Uh oh! who spilled the Cheerios?

Not me!!!

Having a grand old time!

Thankful Part 3....

Pete and his family came over today (as did the rest of the local Sullivan clan). It was a cold day. Good day to spend inside with family and a warm fire..although a late afternoon walk was made to Stew's to stroll through the Christmas Shop.

Thankful Part 2...

Today we had a quiet morning and then after lunch we were off to NJ to see Natacha and the rest of the family who would be at her house. It was a great afternoon, and we even had a puppy surprise us!

Thankful Part 1...

We had a very relaxed Turkey Day. Went to church, watched the parade (on the DVR) and enjoyed a nice meal. Turkey turned out well. I tried to brine it last year, but that didn't seem to have the effect I wanted, so I went old school with just butter and it came out great. (Forgot to take a pic before we carved it...ooops)

We have had a rare spotting of this strange creature....more updates to follow....

Yeah! The museum is open!

Our Children's museum was closed and under construction for three months. They just reopened and it is FABULOUS!!! So nicely redone...it's great.

Don't know what Liliana is about with this face....funny though.

They still have a fish tank but its so much bigger and so much more fun.

Cool musical instruments area....

We purchased a tile on their wall to support the renovation. You could submit your kids artwork, but the twins were too young at the time, so we just had their names put up...can you see it? It's the blue square...

There it is...(we didn't get to pick the tile color, but Felix LOVES the blue...his favorite color)

Afterwards we went outside and played with the big bouncy balls...

Lucas liked this the most I think..

He had fun knocking all the chess pieces over.
