A new discovery...

I am parked out....I am tired of all the parks we go to.  So when I came home yesterday, it was so nice, but I just didn't want to take the kids to the park.  Mead park, which we like is kind of a hike.  Compo Beach is great, but the beach can be very cold.  So I decided to try out this new park, Cherry Lawn, which people in the multiples club have talked about.  Well...what a great find.  Nestled away down an unsuspecting street in Darien we found quite the oasis...as far as oases for toddlers go.

They had a great fenced in area, but one that older kids would enjoy as well (weird that I consider my kids "older")

Felix joined us.  Look at those trees!

Aside from the two park areas, there was this sprawling green that led down to a gazebo and a pond with a dock.

These guys climbed over a stone bridge to an island in the middle of the pond and then stepped out together on this small rock.  A miracle no one fell in!

Happy Birthday Mami!

Wednesday was my birthday (wow...36?  Is that possible?)  It was  a busy work day but I came home to this on the table.  Christina and the kids even went out during the day and got flowers and cards and a balloon.

And of course, we had a Carvel ice cream cake!  Yum!

WEBE 108 Kids Fest

Sunday was rainy and cloudy and quite cold, so it was a perfect day to go to the WEBE 108 (local radio station) Kids Fest in Wilton.  Lots of vendors and free fun....can't beat that!

A train was waiting for us when we arrived...it was raining though so it wasn't really running.

The "princesses" with Lucas...Liliana was too scared..

There's Ronald!

They had an ambulance there that the kids coud climb in and the EMTs showed them around.

Learning about bones.

and bowling....

Free sunglasses!

Here are two videos of the kids doing the Mohawk Derby (I think it was at a station for a summer camp)

Tag Sale and new boots!

This Saturday was the Mother of Multiples spring tag sale.  Got lots of cute clothes for the kids.  On my way out I stopped by the toys area.  There are SO many toys there and I was looking around to see what I could bring home for the kids without it being something I wanted to throw out by week's end.  I walked through all the stuffed animals, crazy light up toys and the like and then made my way to the puzzle table.  If you read this blog you know that the twins (especially Lucas) love puzzles and they seem a little bored with what they have right now, so I got some more challenging puzzles for them...some which are a little too tough right at this moment, but they will grow into them.

In the afternoon, I took the kids out so Felix could relax and watch golf and basketball (he had taken them out all morning while I had been at the tag sale)  We went in search of rain boots for Lucas.  This was the first tag sale I had been to where there were NO rain boots for boys on sale.  We went to Carter's, where they had this cool Duplo block table they could play at.  Found boots, but they were $34..hmmm...

And then we found these $5 boots, same style, different color, at Marshalls.  One of the hooks on the side was broken...see it there on the right?  Guess that's why they were $5...good enough for us!

St. Joseph Dinner

St. Paul's held a dinner last night in honor of St. Joseph.  Nice night for a walk down to the church and some good company at dinner.

The meal was supposed to be meatless (for a lenten observance), but I got the memo late and made my empanadas anyway.

L and L just being goofy.

A weekend with Papi

This past weekend, I went to Boston to see some friends.  This meant Felix had the kids from Friday night until Sunday afternoon.  What a time they had!

On Saturday they went to the Bruce Museum...

And on Sunday, they ventured into the city, stopped at South Street Seaport for lunch and then met up with Felix's friend Craig and his daughter Olivia.  Together they all spent the afternoon at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

They finished it off with a quick trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens...

Mail! With money!!!!

Today, the twins received St. Patrick's Day cards from Nana.  And inside there was a $5 bill for each!

In true Sullivan style, we went straight to Toys R Us and I let the twins pick out a toy or two with their five dollars.

Lucas got a ball and a dinosaur and Liliana got a doll and what she (and I) thought was a princess jump rope.  However when we got home and opened the box it turned out it was just a princess box and was in the wrong bin labeled "jump ropes".  She was a bit disappointed but she handled it well.

The store was empty, so I let each one check out on their own...they put their toys up and handed the money over and got their change.  It was very cute.

And then we topped it off with a car ride....

Thanks Nana.

cooking dinner

The twins love to sit up on the tall chairs while I cook.  They're getting to the age where they can help a bit.  Coating the salmon with melted butter and sprinkling lemon pepper was a big hit the other afternoon.

A Day With Friends

On Sunday afternoon, we headed down to Greenwich to meet up with Mikey D. and his son Taiga.  They were nice enough to have us as guests at the Greenwich Y and we got to swim in the brand new (HUGE) pool.

Look at the guys!  They have matching shorts!

Of course, the twins loved it....

Afterwards, we headed back to Mike's mom's house for pizza.  Mike's wife Mineko and Aiko, Steve and their kids also met us there.

Here's Liliana holding Aiko's baby girl Emme.

Good friends and good cookies!

Jack and the Beanstalk....

We went to the Westport Library on Saturday and saw a puppet show of Jack and the Beanstalk.  I wasn't allowed to take pictures during the show (too distracting to the puppets?  hmmm....) but the pupeteer came out afterwards and talked the kids about his puppets.

This was the giant in the story.

Afterwards, it was off to Compo Beach to enjoy the nice weather.  The twins are playing on more and more things these days...

And of course it wouldn't be a trip to Compo without tossing a few rocks in the water...

Friday night out...

One of the perks that I get for writing so many college recommendations is cool gifts.  Unbenownst to me, the parents of a student I teach own Panda Pavilion in Greenwich.  So at holiday time, I got quite a generous gift certificate for the restaurant.  On Friday night, we had plans in Stamford, so we decided to cash in on our free dinner.  When we entered the restaurant it was all adults and they didn't look happy to see us with two toddlers in tow.  But, the twins were quiet and great, and one couple even came up and commented on how well behaved they were....(insert proud parent smile here) Sad to say it, they use chop sticks much better than I do.

Our plans in Stamford involved seeing the play "The Tortoise and the Hare"  It was being put on by NCTC(Northeast Children's Theater Company), a theater group founded by a former graduate from the school I teach at.  He was quite the actor at our school and now after college has founded this group that specializes in creating theatre pieces aimed at children audiences (he doesn't act in these plays though).  The theater was at Sterling Farms Golf Course in Stamford..never knew they had a theater there.  The play was amazing and it was so refreshing to see a former student pursuing their passion, and doing it so well.

Mexico Farewell...

Here are random pics that didn't seem to fit into their own posts...

Watching the Republican Debate in our living room while the kids colored.

Lucas at the shoreline on our second night in town (you can't tell it, but right behind him, the beach drops off about 6 feet into the crashing waves)

Liliana proud of her first L's...she did both of these by herself...

And finally, our last day, our last sunset.

We splurged for smoothie drinks for everyone....with a little kick for Felix and I.

Liliana and Lucas transporting a table to our chairs so that we have a place to put our drinks.

And then  the sun finally set...

All ready and packed the next morning...

Knocked out before we even taxied to the runway...

Watching Toy Story on the iPad as we flew to NYC.

Looking at all the lights after we landed...

Our trip was amazing.  The kids were so great and traveled so well, that it just reinforces the fact that Felix and I want to do this even more with them....thanks for reading!
