Beach evening...

I am really pleased with my iPhone.  It allows me to take pics when I am out with the kids without lugging around my camera.  The last month or so of posts have all been with phone pics.

Anyway....the weather has been SO nice!  After naps today, I took the kids down to Compo Beach to play a bit and get some good fresh air.

Felix says Liliana looks very "Westport".  I think the UGG boots do it...I bought them at the tag sale for $6, but they do look a bit "trendy"...hmm

That aside...they had a ball running around, and it is so refreshing to be able to do this in November!

The sunset was absolutely amazing!

Can you see them?  We stayed until dark...running down by the water.  But then I started losing them in the dark, so we had to leave then.

Ice Skating....

We are fortunate to be able to participate in the Longshore Club activities in Westport.  This is possible because I teach in Westport and am able to gain access to the club at resident rates.  Longshore is where the pool is in the summer.  Unbeknownst to me, they put up an outdoor skating rink on the tennis courts each winter.  The weather was beautiful so we decided to give it a try.  They had rentals for toddlers, which was great, and a former student of mine was working the window, and gave us free admission and free rentals (for the whole family!) .  I guess I wasn't that mean of a teacher....

Getting ready....very excited...

It was slow going at first...very slow.  The twins kept trying to run on the ice and did not like the loss of control they were experiencing.

We tried these walker things, which seemed to help a bit.

But after a while, we were able to get around the rink just holding their hands...

Watching the zamboni clean the ice was a big hit!

It was a beautiful night and we were treated to a great sunset as we headed out.

I am debating whether or not to buy skates for the kids at one of those trade in stores, where you keep trading them in as they grow.  I think we will see how it goes this year, and if they really take a liking to it, we might do it.  I was trying to remember with Nana when I learned how to skate.  I realized I never remembered a time when I could not....I guess I learned that young.  I saw a lot of older kids...and some adults struggling just as much as Liliana and Lucas and I would like them to learn now when they are young.

Thanksgiving 2011

Well, the meal went off without a hitch.  Nana, Connie, Wenday and Felix's boss, Harris joined us for the day.

One of the two days I actually use my china (and cloth napkins and napkin rings, etc.)

Harris and Lucas with the iPad post-feast.

While Nana and Liliana played some sort of game.

Of course, Felix was focused on the Cowboys.

So cute cuddling up together before heading off to bed.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Pre-Thanksgiving and Puzzles

Lucas is a huge fan of puzzles.  He for the most part likes board puzzles, but recently started working on this floor puzzle with animals.  I thought it would be too hard for him, but he continues to surprise me by what he can do.

And Thanksgiving cookies arrived today courtesy of Nana!  Pics tomorrow of our holiday.

interior decorating

Sorry for the repeat posts on Facebook and this blog, but we have some followers who are not on FB.

Heard the twins "scampering" around this evening.  Tried to ignore it and when it got a little loud, we paused our tv and went up to take a look.  Liliana was caught red handed either on her way in or out of her crib, straddling the top rail.  She looked like a robber caught in the act when I opened the door.  I peaked into Lucas' room to see what was going on there (expecting him fast alseep, which is often the case when Liliana is frolicking about) and found that he had somehow gained access to the box of wipes (his sister perhaps?) and decorated his own crib.  After I took this pic, I proceeded to remove all the wipes.  He counted along as I did this, keeping pace with each wipe I removed.  He seemed so proud!

Thanksgiving Parade!

Today was GORGEOUS! And we headed out to the parade shortly after 10.  Last night at the balloon inflation, we met up with an old friend of the Scarpa family-Christopher.  He offered to let us park at his office and to come sit with him as he sets up camp shortly before 10 each year.  What luck!

Off we go!

That's Christopher talking to Felix, and the twins standing on their wagon waiting at the barricades.

The Nose-Seltzer gang made it too!  Little Emme slept through the whole thing.

Aiko and Liliana keeping an eye out for Santa.

Liliana waving hi to Santa.

Thanks to Christopher for making what could have been a crazy scene, a calm, relaxed and enjoyable one.  Since we were stationed at the beginning of the route, we got out before most of the crowd.  Great Day!
