A trip to New Milford

I had to go to a quilting shop in Danbury today. So we decided to make a trip out of it and stop by and see Elaine and Pete as well. For those of you who don't know, my brother is married to Pete and Elaine's daughter.

Lucas and Liliana had a great time playing downstairs in the playroom...

(Elaine actually gave us this zebra to take home...thanks Elaine!)

The kids loved the tree..makes me a bit nervous about putting ours up...

And if they loved the tree, they loved the dogs even more. Their first real interaction with live animals..they had a blast.

Thanks for a nice afternoon Pete and Elaine!

And they were out as soon as we hit the road....the new seats are a big hit!

Locked out...

Yep, the gates are up! The twins are just a little too mobile these days. Unbeknownst to us, the two openings where we needed gates...living and entrance to kitchen..are wider than most. So all the gates we got from people would not fit...just a few inches too short. So this gate was from Becca's mom (I work with Becca). It fits extra wide door ways. I am not too sure how they feel about being confined to a space..they look so pathetic sometimes on the other side.

Happy Thanksgiving!

The past few days were spent with (some of our) family. To those who we were not able to be with...we missed you. Here are some pics (actually, quite a few )from the past two days.

The morning of Thanksgiving...playing around before family arrives.

Yes, and sometimes we fight over the numbers and letters, in this case, number 5.

Hanging around...

Look outside!

Monkey see, monkey do...

Lucas yelping as he crawls..his new thing.

Liliana still wants out...

Connie and Wendy all ready to eat.

The dinner hour didn't really correspond with the twins' feeding schedule..so they got a biscuit as they sat with us to eat.

No, no..Liliana!

Lucas working his legs with Nana.

Good morning!

This is why children should not watch tv. We let them sit and watch Plaza Sesamo while we got ready...it really does rot the brain I think...

Today we went off to see Abuela in NYC...

She even let them play her piano..which they LOVED!

Trying on Papi's hat...

Hugo and Natacha stopped by to say hi!

It was a nice two days. Thanks to everyone. And for those of you we didn't see...love to you too!

The big kid seats have arrived....

Well, here they are....the big kid car seats have arrived. Now they look so tiny again! We have four of these...count them, four...sitting in our side room. Now if only we could figure out how to install them!

Pack and Plays are our new best friend!

This is the latest quilting project I am working on. It's not actually for me, it's for a friend of my mom's. It is made up of all her daughter's cheerleading t-shirts. Anyway, this woman would like it for Christmas, and very unlike me I have put this off since August. So I am feeling the crunch..Thanksgiving knocking on the door and all. So today I wanted to get a lot of work done, but it is hard with the twins. Felix was out this afternoon and with them crawling everywhere, sewing is not possible.

When Lucas woke up from his nap...I saw the Pack and Play in the guest room and decided to try him out in it. We have only used the pack and plays as beds when we travel, but I soon discovered today that they are great play pens as well. Lucas was having a ball!

And then Liliana woke up and joined him.

Although I think she felt more "caged" in than he did.

They wore each other out...and just laid around for a while. Just have to be sure that she doesn't kick him in the head with that cast!

All in all, I got about an hour and a half of work done on the quilt today...yeah for pack and plays!

Wet bath, dry bath....

Since Liliana is in a cast, she cannot be in the big tub...instead we give her a sponge bath in the old baby bathtub...here she is playing with my watch, which she seems to love.

Lucas on the other hand has the whole big tub to himself and seems to love it.

The following video was of tonight after dinner. Felix was reading to the twins and showing them the animals that we have in the house that correspond to the animals in the book...they were so mesmerized by it all..

This was last night..the twins were playing after dinner and Lucas spotted a block that he wanted. He doesn't crawl as quick as Liliana, but he eventually got what he wanted!

Just hanging around the house...

Cast, what cast? Here the twins are having fun after dinner....

They can be such goofballs sometimes...:-)

We love our children..we do. They have been nothing but a source of happiness and wonder for us since the day they were born. I know how everyone comments on how easy going they are. However, my friends, we all have our moments...here's one of theirs...

Almost there....

Lucas is starting to scoot around more and more these days. This is a video of his "army crawl"..hasn't quite figured out the legs yet. Liliana is also in this..hanging out in the laundry basket...I think she is trying to find a way out.

Poor little thing....

Well, the first question people ask is "What happened?" But we really don't know. Liliana was showing signs of favoring her left leg last week. She did take a tumble, but just fell to a sitting position one night about a week ago. She was crying a lot but we thought she was just scared. When the crying wouldn't stop, we took her to the walk-in hours at our pediatrician (you can walk in up to 9 pm!) The x-ray was closed for the night, so they gave her some motrin, said maybe it was just twisted and inflammed and to come back the next day if she still seemed in pain. Over the next few days, she seemed fine...still favoring the left leg, but able to crawl and pull herself up. At her physical yesterday, the doctor examined it and ordered and X-ray, she then referred us to a specialist and they confirmed this evening that Liliana has a fractured tibia. She will have this cast on for three weeks....

Here she is trying to figure out what exactly happened to her leg...

She is able to crawl a bit, but not as well, and she gets easily frustrated.

She was very good tonight as they put the cast on, and now that she is home, she seems fine...a little less mobile..but ok. Thanks to everyone for their prayers and inquiries....

A new toy!

Who knew laundry baskets could be so much fun!
