Trick or Treat Take 2

Today was the official day and so we took the twins out trick or treating. Jen is in town for the twins' baptism. Here she is helping Liliana into her costume.

Lucas is all ready to go!

We thought we would try to get a pic with the two of them...here Liliana is all over the place..Lucas all smiles for the camera...

Still, Lucas smiling..Liliana not so much...

He's almost looking at her to say "Really, can't you sit still for one picture?"

Jen and I before we took the twins out..we didn't plan the orange and green shirts.

Jen and Liliana...

After four houses...our total loot!

And finally a picture of the four of us..thanks Jen!

Trick or Treat Take 1

Tonight we went to a family friendly Halloween party. It was at the house of our friend Jen, who I work with at Staples High School.

Here's the hostess and her baby girl Sophia....

Even the dads were into the costumes this year!

This is my friend Robin's baby Alexa..she was born just a few months after the twins....

The dads and their girls...

If you haven't noticed by now...the twins were pumpkins, as were Felix and I. They were a little taken aback by the whole party...lots of kids, lots of costumes, lots of noise. But they finally got to crawl around on the grass..just don't eat the leaves!

Each family brought enough treats for each kid and then the families lined up around the cul-de-sac and the kids went around trick or treating..perfect for little kids...

We haven't seen this "deer in headlights" look in a while...

Papi and the kids...sadly, we never got a picture of all four of us...

then it was home and bottles and bed....ahhh..home sweet home...

A new bedtime setup....

Well, with experimenting with pulling herself up comes pulling herself up in her crib. So tonight, Felix lowered Liliana's crib so she doesn't fall out in the middle of the night. The infant level is quite high and she is standing a bit too easily these days.

Now on the lower level, she peeks out to see what is going on...

Lucas all happy after his bath...

The wearable blankets are a little frustrating for Liliana in that it doesn't allow her to stand as well, only to kneel...

Lucas seems ok with it though, he can still work on his crawling!

Easy does it...

Liliana is currently experimenting with pulling herself up. She likes to practice with this green chair since it is low to the ground and doesn't require a lot of upper body strength to pull herself up to a standing position. There you go little girl.....

Look I am up!

Lucas is still working on the crawling...he's almost there...happy as a clam though..as always!

A Beautiful Day

After church today, we had a baptism class until almost 2 pm. We were walking home to get ready for what would be a regular Sunday afternoon...I would go to the gym and Felix would watch football. But we decided it was way too nice to spend the day inside, so we ditched our plans and took the kids on a road trip to Ikea (in New Haven).

Here's what the leaves look like around where we live...I love when the leaves change...

The twins seemed on board for an afternoon out...check out those smiles.

Felix and Lucas walking into Ikea...we didn't find what we wanted.

Finally, about an hour later, we did find what we were looking for..a nice print and frame for the dining area. This was also the first day that the twins tried riding in a shopping cart. They thought it was great! Try as I may, I couldn't get them to look at me in this pic. There were seagulls flying around in the adjacent parking lot and they were obviously more interesting than me. The print we bought is behind the twins.

Tag Sale!

Today was the Mother of Mutiples Tag Sale. It's held twice a year and there are great deals to be found. We got a bunch of clothes and some fun toys. We tried the kids winter hats on them today to see if they fit. We actually got a more serious one for Liliana, but we couldn't resist trying this one on first.

But by far, the best purchase was this drum. Lucas is always hitting things so we thought he would like it. Liliana even seemed to want to get in on the fun, although I am not sure Lucas was so keen on the idea.

Bathtime in the living room!

The twins are taking their baths in the big tub upstairs in the bathroom. However, Lucas had two teeth break through recently and as a result, leading up to this he had a lot of messy diapers which led to a pretty bad diaper rash. The doctor suggested that we soak him daily in Aveeno Bath. This we have done routinely. However, the other day the Yankees were playing and you can not see a tv from where the bathroom is upstairs. We can't leave him alone, so we thought about bringing the baby bath tub back out, but using it in the kitchen(where we used to use it) posed the same problem, still can't see the game. So since Lucas never splashes around much, we decided to set up his bathtub and have him sit in the living room and we could all watch the game. Water everywhere..that's all I have to say. Enjoy!

The best intentions....

So this is the kids' alphabet mat that you have been seeing in so many pics lately. We wanted to see if we could spell out some words, but keep in mind we only have one of each letter in the alphabet. Felix was able to spell LUCAS, (with an upside down V for an A), KATE, Liliana's middle name (Liliana was out of the question due to the repetition of letters in her name) and even was still able to spell DOMINO (using the number 0 for the second O) All was done, and then the other day we looked at the mat only to notice the word spelled vertically in the right hand upper corner of this pic...can you see it?

Ha! Ha! So inadvertently, we spelled the word SEX...got to fix that one.

Playing second fiddle...

Let's face it, as much as we would not like to admit it, Liliana has been playing second fiddle these days...just a little bit. Lucas was so sick, and since Liliana was well, we sent her to the sitters while we took Lucas to the doctor and watched over him during the day. Of course, she got nice one on one treatment at the sitters, but now that I am better, and Lucas is on the mend, we can focus on the both of them equally again. As a shout out to our little girl, here is a post all about her...

Here are two videos..first is Liliana getting lost under a blanket and the second is Liliana practicing her crawling skills as she crawls toward a tower of blocks to knock them down(her favorite game these days) At the end watch how she gets up on her hands and toes!!!

In recovery...

To all our faithful followers, it's been a while..I know. This week was a tough one in the Gomez house. Lucas was sick with a nasty ear infection, battling a tough fever for most of the week. I was sick as well, and Felix and Liliana were trying to stay away from it all. Thanks to Nana for coming to stay and help out. Luckily Lucas is feeling better (as am I), and Felix and Liliana never really got sick. Our plan this weekend is to hunker down and stay put in all this cold, wet weather.

Some pics of the (now) healthy kids...

The twins are totally interacting these days. In fact it seems whatever one twin is playing with, the other one wants...no matter what it is.

Lucas and his leaning tower of blocks...

Liliana this week as she went off by herself to Andrea's house (sitter). Bundle up little girl! Even at 6:30 she is all smiles!

The newest best thing!

Today the twins' alphabet mat arrived in the mail. This mat is nice in that the twins tend to fall over a lot these days when they are sitting up and although we have an area rug and a quilt on the floor for them, it' still a little too hard when they topple over. Adds a lot of color to our living room, that's for sure!

We also just got these "bath rings". Not too sure of the official name. It's basically like a water seat. The twins can basically sit on their own, but in the water it is too risky. But bathing one baby and then the next can get tedious. And now they get so dirty every day I would prefer to bathe them every night. This way we can say good bye to the baby bath tub and bathe them both at the same time. They seemed to love it!

We even used the seats earlier tonight when I was cooking dinner and we didn't want them crawling all over! Good stuff!

Some catching up...

Last week Abuela came to visit. She and Liliana were cuddly on the couch..they even match! She will be back this week to help us make sure Lucas' baptism outfit is fitted properly.

This weekend the twins were hanging out on our bed before church...just having a good time.

Today I picked them up early and took them to Cranbury Park. It's a bit smaller than the beach park, but not nearly as crowded. They love the swings!

And back at home tonight, they were working on sitting up. Both are quite good at it now..although Lucas is a little more sure of himself than Liliana. It all seems to be getting easier...they can pretty much sit up, they can feed themselves. I feel like we are able to enjoy them more and micromanage them less...that is until they both are mobile...ha ha!
